Hello! I am so glad you’re here! I am Mary Kate and I specialize in Fine Art Weddings, Portraits and destination weddings. I like to describe my style as romantically editorial, soft and timeless with a touch of adventure, while also commanding attention. An MKS couple are two people who value tradition and family heirlooms, but aren't afraid to put their own unique touch on the day. My goal as a photographer is to take your wedding day dreams, pair them with my artistic vision, and create bespoke, heirloom imagery that you and your families will treasure and proudly display for years to come. This is your day, your story and your memories. I aim to capture the beauty of each and every moment of your special day.
The fictional character I most identify with is Elizabeth Bennett from Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice. I find myself time and time again drawn to the romance and elegance of that time period. For me, your vision is key and I will gladly work with you to make sure your day is storybook perfect. This is your fairytale after all!
I am dually based in both Memphis, Tennessee and Lancaster, Pennsylvania and I work with brides all over the country. My photography business started as a hobby in Pennsylvania and quickly turned into my life’s work.
In 2011, I began capturing the life events of family and friends and before I knew it, my business had been born. After moving to Memphis for college and starting a family, I now photograph weddings and events all over the south and world.
There are so many elements of this business that I cherish, but building relationships with clients is my favorite. It is because of this business that so many of my clients have turned into real life friendships that I adore. My once passionate hobby has now turned into a passion to serve my clients and produce the experience that you deserve to have on your day.
I love learning about my clients and what makes your story unique. This allows me to really capture the essence of who you are in your photos. I love learning about your love story and what you cherish about each other. I love to share your joy and celebrate with you. I am so lucky to do what I do and would love the opportunity to serve you. Please reach out and start a conversation with me about what you desire on your big day and we will make your dreams come true.
Is there a better love story than Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy in Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice? Though the circumstances of the time and environment push Elizabeth to seek a marriage of convenience for economic security, Elizabeth wishes to marry for love. And marry for love she does. As Darcy so eloquently states in the novel, “We are connected, Elizabeth. Of that there can be no doubt. It is something akin to your love of nature, of soil and roots and water and sunlight. Your seedlings could not thrive without one of these components ...as I could not thrive without you."
Catherine and Heathcliffe from Wuthering Heights gave us a love that surpassed social standings and family connections. It was Catherine who said (about Heathcliff), “Whatever souls are made of, his and mine are the same.” How wonderful it is to know someone is your other half. That he or she is the part that makes you whole and you have finally found him/her.
Beauty and the Beast of the Disney classic of the same name showed us that love is more than physical attraction. In the fairytale, Belle begins to see past the fearsome facade to the gentle prince beneath. “True that he’s no Prince Charming, but there’s something in him that I simply didn’t see,” Belle said. And as Lumiere prompted the couple, “When the moment is right, confess your love. You don’t have time to be timid. You must be bold, Darling!”
Literature, art, history, and film are filled with great love stories. However, I am a firm believer that the greatest love story ever told is your own. I believe we are most alive when we’re in love and I aim to capture all that inhabits your very own love story. True love stories never have endings just chapters. Contact me to capture this chapter in your love story.
This is your day, your story and your memories. I aim to capture the beauty of each and every moment of your special day through bespoke, story-like imagery.
The importance of wedding photographs can never be overstated. These are the photos that you will look back on for 50 years. They are the photos your kids, grandkids, and great grandkids will point to one day. When a couple chooses me to photograph their wedding, they are entrusting me with the most important day of their lives. They have trusted me to capture their memories and tell part of their love story.
My heart belongs in two places. I am truly an East Coast girl with a Southern heart! I live full-time in Memphis, Tennessee with my family and I love it here. However, I also love to return to my hometown near Lancaster, Pennsylvania. That means I get to photograph weddings and events in both beautiful places? How lucky am I?
Because I live in Memphis, I photograph weddings and events all up and down the South. So if you plan to get married in the Memphis metro area, I’m your girl! However, if you’re based in Pennsylvania, don’t worry- I can photograph you there as well! I usually travel home to Pennsylvania about once every two months. However, if you have a specific date in mind just let me know and I will do my best to accommodate you. Because I stay with family while I’m there, my “travel fees” don’t apply to that location. As the old proverb says, “the thrill of coming home has never changed.”
