Taylor & Josh | Proposal & Engagement
This blog post has a special place in my heart for a few reasons and I am so excited to share it with you! This couple are dear friends of mine, so it was an honor to capture this precious moment for them! I personally just adore proposals - everything about them. It is a fleeting moment in life that embraces such real raw emotions - like when the groom sees his bride in her dress for the first time, or when you buy your first home or lay eyes on your first newborn. They are all fleeting moments that have such a significant, defining moment in peoples' lives. <3
When Josh called me up earlier that week asking me to capture the moment he had planned to propose to Taylor, obviously my answer was YES! I've known Josh and Taylor for about 3 1/2 years, but it's been in the last year that our friendships have really grown. Josh and Taylor met at Visible Music College, which is also where I met them. :) Josh graduated with a degree in Drums and Taylor graduated with a degree in Music Business. Together they plan on moving out to LA to pursue their dreams in the music business industry! They are both so incredibly talented - a power couple who will make waves. I am very excited to see what they do!
Okay, now for the moment we all want to read about - the proposal story! ;)
June 17th: Josh wanted to recreate their first date together. You usually will find these two hanging out at coffee shops all over town. Josh rented out Cafe Keough, located downtown Memphis - one of my very favorite coffee shops. To give you a taste of Cafe Keough's style - imagine a beautiful, white marble European cafe. You feel like you've walked into a different country when you step foot into Cafe Keough. The owner and barista at Cafe Keough were more than accommodating for this special event, which was no surprise. They are awesome. I highly recommend them for not just a wonderful cup of coffee and macaroons, but also for private events. The barista had selected the perfect classy old jazz music to play sweetly in the background and together we lit several tea light candles surrounding the adorable cafe style sweetheart table sitting just off center. Two glasses of wine sat on the table with perfectly folded white napkins. A letter addressed, "Last Date" sat at one end of the table, while a sophisticated polished black ring box sat at the other end. It was perfect. I'll let the pictures tell the rest of the story.
P.S. The waiting was the hardest part for me... ;)
P.P.S. We wrapped up the beautiful evening with some adorable candid engagement photos outside the cafe. Aren't they the cutest?
Josh & Taylor, it was a privilege capturing this incredibly precious moment for you. I am so excited for the honor of photographing your wedding later this year, but not only that, continuing to grow this friendship that has been a blessing and added joy to my life! <3
XOXO,
MK
