A Classy, Sunset Engagement at the Thomas Jefferson Memorial | Lindsay & Matt | Washington, DC | Destination Fine Art Wedding Photographer
Back in January when I received Lindsay and Matt’s initial inquiry for their 2020 wedding, I just knew they would be an MKS couple! I was immediately drawn to their love for trying new restaurants in their city of Washington, DC and going to concerts! When Lindsay and I first started talking about where to take their engagement photos, DC wasn’t even a consideration. Originally we were going to shoot on the college campus where Lindsay and Matt first met and fell in love. However, after a few conversations, it became clear DC was the place! I lightly tossed the idea of shooting their session at the famous and gorgeous Thomas Jefferson Memorial! Shooting at such an iconic landmark has been on my bucket list for a while now. I LOVE when my couples are so eager to get adventurous (and maybe shoot somewhere just a little crazy). It’s not everyday you get to shoot an adorable couple at the Thomas Jefferson! We had our fingers crossed as we sent in our application for approval to the National Park Service. Sure enough, as you can obviously tell, we got the approval to go shoot and oh my (!!), what a dream come true!
Beforehand, we grabbed drinks at one of the incredible restaurants nearby — only seemed fitting since these two are foodies just like me! A little alcohol before taking photos isn’t such a bad idea either. It was just what we all needed on that hot evening. I love spending some time with each of my couples. Our acquaintance quickly develops into friendship and that is priceless. :)
I am especially excited about Lindsay and Matt’s May 2020 wedding because Lindsay grew up in Lancaster, PA just like me and we quickly discovered (again), what a small world it is! It all just proves how incredible and what a powerful networking tool Instagram really is!
