Our Nantucket-Inspired Kitchen Renovation
As our first renovation in this beloved Cape Cod-style home, it’s been such a joy to watch our vision come to life. When we set out to renovate our kitchen, we knew we wanted to capture the charm and timeless elegance of Nantucket. A mix of coastal blues, natural textures, and classic New England elements came together to create a space that feels inviting, fresh, and effortlessly sophisticated. The serene, ocean-inspired hue adds just the right touch of New England charm and elegance to the heart of our home.
This kitchen was designed with love for cooking, hosting, and those spontaneous gatherings that just seem to happen. It’s a space that feels functional and timeless, yet filled with inspiration. Our favorite part? The cozy kitchen nook! Instead of opting for an eat-in kitchen, we chose to carve out a little retreat—soft, intimate, and perfect for quiet mornings or long conversations over a glass of wine. It’s quickly become a favorite spot for us and our guests. I smile thinking of all the memories made here, and can’t wait for the ones to come.
One of the biggest transformations was our cabinetry. We partnered with Caldwell Painting to refresh the cabinets in a stunning French coastal blue, instantly elevating the space and bringing that signature Nantucket charm. We complemented the cabinetry with polished brass hardware (purchased here: hardware & second option) to add warmth and a subtle vintage touch.
To enhance the coastal feel, we opted for a classic white farmhouse sink (purchased here: sink) paired with a sleek, high-arch faucet (purchased here: faucet and drinking water faucet). These touches of crisp white help balance the bold blue cabinetry and create a clean, airy aesthetic.
Another key design element is the woven kitchen runner from Amazon (purchased here: runner), which adds warmth and texture underfoot, tying in beautifully with the natural materials found in classic Nantucket homes.
One of my favorite subtle design choices was incorporating scalloped and whicker details. Whether it’s a scalloped edge on textiles, a delicate wave-like trim or whicker accents, these elements add a touch of playfulness and femininity while staying true to the classic coastal aesthetic. Combined with pops of white in our dishware, lighting, and accessories, these small details make the space feel layered and thoughtfully curated.
Our goal is to create a home that feels like a true escape—a cozy, elevated, inviting space where everyone feels welcome, whether you’re greeted by Gibson 🐶 and Remi and Charlie 🐱, or offered a warm cup of coffee (or wine, depending on the time!).

Future Additions
While we’re thrilled with how the space has come together, we’re still adding those final New England-inspired touches to make it feel truly complete. Our next projects include installing a custom blue oven hood to tie into our cabinetry, adding wallpaper and light fixtures for more texture and charm, and incorporating a few more pieces of New England-inspired artwork and accessories. These final details will enhance the character of our space, making it feel like a true coastal retreat right in our home.
We can’t wait to share more as we continue refining our Nantucket-inspired kitchen. Stay tuned for updates, and let us know what you think about our design so far!
Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you choose to check back in! xoxo, Mary Kate
