6 Timeless Details To Include In Your Wedding Day That Won’t Go Out Of Style — For The Fine Art Bride
As a fine art bride, details that tell a story while also being classy, editorial and timeless can some times be easier said than done. The details are an important and intricate part of telling a timeless love story that will be cherished by the family you are building for generations to come. Today, I am sharing 6 timeless details to include in your wedding day design that won’t go out of style.
1. Sentimental Details - Your wedding day is about you and your spouse. It is easy to get caught up in all the big picture details like wedding dress shopping, consultations with the florist and caterer, the guest list and may I dare say, what everyone else around you thinks you should do for your wedding. What is also important is slowing down to focus on the details of your love story, how that plays a part in the these moments leading up to you getting married to the love of your life and what that might look like on your day. Think about your interests, your personalities, what you love and how you can weave them into the design of your wedding day. Including sentimental details with your paper suite for your photographer to photograph is a beautiful way to include those special, personal details. A few of those sentimental details could be a keepsake ring box, a letter or book from a grandmother, a necklace or earrings from your Mother or maybe it is an old ticket stub from your first date together. Whatever they may be, they are important.
2. Vintage Car - Everyone loves a classic vintage car! Why not ride in style on your wedding day, whether it is for the exit or as transportation throughout the day from one location to another, you can never go wrong with including an antique car in your wedding day!
3. Champagne Tower - This is a class act detail every wedding should include! There has been a recent uptrend with the underrated champagne tower and I am so here for it. A few of my couples have done the champagne tower and it truly was a huge highlight of the evening. Not only is this detail simply so much fun for both you and your guests, it is a detail that has been around for a long, long time. Some couples are even choosing to replace a traditional cake for a gorgeous champagne tower and offer small fine desserts instead.
4. Place Cards / Escort Card Display - Personally, I love the elegant and formal touch of an escort card display or place cards. It is intimate and personal to include the name of each guest beautifully displayed in a unique and creative way that signifies something special in your love story. Whether it be a play on words or a favorite song, a pun that includes a favorite interest or hobby you both enjoy or simply a beautiful scroll style place card with the guest name written in calligraphy — it adds an elegant personal touch. The difference between a place card and an escort card display: a place card is placed where each guest has been assigned a seat at a specific table. An escort card display has each guest name and table number displayed, giving the guest a choice where they want to sit at that assigned table. For a sit down dinner, I am quite fond of place cards. If you want to get really fancy, you could have both, so that guests know which table they are sitting at, which they would then find their place card at a specific seat.
5. Reception Lounge Seating - Designing a wedding is much different from planning a wedding. Lounge seating at a reception is a wonderful way to further that design aspect while also continuing the “story telling” of your wedding day. It is amazing what kind of details really add to the story telling aspect. Reception lounge seating is a really great interior design detail that is really important and should be at every wedding reception. It is also very practical and offers an invitation to your guests to mingle and converse in more intimate settings.
6. Reception Dress - This is one of my favorite details and a really fun way for a bride to show off her personality a bit more. I believe a wedding dress should speak to the personality of a bride. It should show off her favorite features about herself and make a fashion statement. Changing into a reception dress is the perfect way to show off your sassy, fun, less traditional side, while also playing with another version of bridal fashion you love! It is also a super fun way to add an element of surprise to the reception and “wow” your guests yet again! It’s a great way to “show off” a little bit and have another crowd “moment” that every guest will love and remember!
